The East Coast has birthed an endless list of hip-hop legends, and the next generation of stars has already been passed the torch. Manhattan's very own Leeky Bandz continues his reign of future rap dominance with his latest visual release for "UHUH." Premiering today (March 5), the VisionFilmz-directed video features the New York native teaming up with Washington D.C.'s Money Marr as they plan the ultimate mansion heist.
“UHUH,” which is produced by Smash Bros, comes straight off of Bandz’s project Life After Future, which dropped this week. The project contains 10 tracks and sheds light on the Lower East Side MC’s journey to stardom coming from the streets of downtown Manhattan. “This is a body of work which signifies everything from here on,” Bandz says of the mixtape. “The future is what I call the music, so basically my life starts after this project.”
Being that he resides from the same city that produced tons of other hip-hop icons, it’s easy to hear his influences from those he grew up listening to, including Jay-Z, The LOX, and DMX just to name a few. His futuristic sound is spread all throughout Life After Future and includes notable guest features such as YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Gunna, and Money Marr. If there was any doubt of New York’s future in the rap game, Leeky Bandz is wiping it out.
