Earlier this week, a friend of mine texted me with some bad news. As it turns out, her move to Washington, D.C. had been indefinitely postponed and she was, in turn, stuck in Detroit for an indeterminate amount of time.
For those unaware, Detroit isn't exactly the ideal place for any young African American trying to make something out of themselves, so when she text me with the bad news, I immediately felt her pain. However, whereas she feels as stuck as I did months ago, I decided to take matters into my own hands and began venturing out into the burgeoning arts scene here in Detroit.
This song is a dedication.
