Consider this a formal introduction to Riley Deacon, one of Canada's most promising exports. With Projections, his latest instrumental project, the rapper/director/producer finds a mellow groove and thrives in it, mixing jazz samples with understated drums that never distract from the melody at hand.
Clocking in at 16 minutes with pianos, strings, guitars, and vibraphones, it sounds like the perfect soundtrack to a calm weekend. Subtlety done correctly.
