The Purge Tops Box Office
Despite the $3 million budget, The Purge dominated the box office this weekend. The horror film debut at #1 with an estimated $36.4 million, beating out some of the highest industry expectations.
The Purge, a story about a future where people are allowed to break the law for one day out of the year reached the largest opener for star, Ethan Hawke. The film took the crown for the largest opening for an R-rated horror movie that wasn't a remake or adaption.
The film has many questioning how a future of the sorts would work out. What would you do if you could commit a crime and not get caught and when the masks come off, who would you trust on those 364 days out of the year?
