Thrifting has become a huge trend within recent years. People have stepped away from expensive clothing, to rocking the second hand fashion finds from thrifts stores. You mean to tell me people actually like that shirt I got from the Goodwill? Yep! College students are in luck and should take advantage of the new wave. Learn how to be a thrifting expert with these tips of the trade:
1. Patience. Thrifting takes time to look and through all the clothing to find that one, glorious piece. Trust me, it'll be worth it.
2. Have an open mind. Look through different sections, and don't shy away from bright colors and patterns. Make a statement!
3. Try it on. Everything, and I mean everything. Since it's already second hand, you can't return it. So, make sure it fits and that you actually like how it looks on you before buying. Make sure there's no obvious wears and tears like stains too!
4. Accessorize! Thrift stores have the best accessories from bags to jewelry, to vintage finds. Not only do they have a great selection of clothing, thrift stores also have a great selection of items such as paintings and cool things for your dorm!
5. Do your research. As you shop, look for well name brands. They usually have lasting material. You never know, you could find an authentic vintage piece for an extremely low price.
6. Last, but not least, set a budget. While everything is cheap, it can still be easy to go over board. $20-$30 will allow you to reap a hefty collection.
Happy Thrifting :)
