Springtime is here and that means SPRING BREAK. Some of you may have already enjoyed the luxury of a week off from tests, papers, and assignments, but for many it's right around the corner. Spring break is the time to let loose and enjoy the college life, but not without a cost. Before you go crazy in Miami, check out a few of these budget friendly ideas for a bomb vacation that won't explode your wallets:
- Staycation; don't have the funds to hit the beach, stay in town and enjoy all the things you never get a chance to. Hit up the movies or visit a few tourist spots around the city. Grab your camera and make some memories that you'd never get a chance to when school's in session.
- Megabus; skip the flight and check out the uber cheap rates on megabus. While it may not be as comfortable, it comes equip with wi-fi and prices as low as $1!
- Skiing; since it's out of season, you'll find some great rates! Never been before? Try something new and stay at a nice lodge with a great group of people.
- Road Trip; rent a car and hit the road! Budget out the gas money and junk food, create a dope playlist and have fun!
- Big City; while most students will be hitting the beach, try visiting a city you've always wanted. Go to New York, or Houston with the fairly cheap student rates found on AirTran.
- Volunteer; ask your school about alternative spring break options. Spend your time helping with a cause while making some new friends.
- Catch up; this is the perfect time to catch up on some homework and assignments. Ask your professor if they'll be available over the break and email them for assistance. Before you know it, the school year will be over
These are just a few spring break alternatives for the college student on a budget. You don't have to ball out to have a good time. Remember, spring break is about relaxing from a hectic semester and creating memories with your closest friends. College is the best time of your lives. Live it up, but play it smart!
Dopefully,
Shanika
