An app a day ..

In the words of iPhone, "there's an app for that." Mobile applications are a great resource for a college students. You literally have everything you need in the palm of your hands. I know Twitter was the first one you downloaded, why not use apps to help you with your finances. Here are a few handy apps to help you!

• Your bank - Check to see if your financial institution has a mobile application. This will allow you to have access to your account balance, find the nearest ATM, and pay bills online. Did you know some banks charge you to check your balance if it's not your home bank? An app will help you keep up with your expenses and always know how much you have in your account.

• MoneyWise (Android)/iSpending (iPhone) - these apps allow you to keep track of your spending. Insert your income and expenses. It tells you your budget and sends out reports of your expenses. Great way to manage your finances.

• Living Social & Groupon - these apps tells you about discounted events or products near you! Have a night out with your friends for cheap! A simple sign up is required.

• Shoeboxed (iPhone) - this app helps you keep up with your receipts, bills, or important documents. Simply take a photo and the data is extracted. Great resource for filling out taxes or keeping up with important information!

Mobile applications are a great resource when it comes to finances. There are many options available to help you keep a budget, pay bills on time, and track your expenses.
