Why not DIY ...

My favorite part of being a broke college student (if there is one)  is learning how to do things yourself. I love DIY projects from clothes, to recipes, to home decor. DIY's are great ways to save a little cash and make something one of a kind to yourself. There are so many resources on the web to show you how and YouTube is a great place to find step-by-step videos. Before you go out and buy that object, look for a DIY online! Below is a list of a few projects you can  do:

Cork Memory board:
Simply purchase (or recycle) cork. You can find cork at an art supply store or even WalMart. Price will depend on the size. Add trim for decoration with a ribbon, or paint. Voila! Add what you'd like to your cork board with push pins. Hold notes, memos, pictures and more!

Recycled Can/Bottles
Reuse old bottles or cans to hold storage such as pens, pencils, or flowers! Decorate the cup with paint and other materials that can be found at art stores.

SmartPhone Projector
need:
shoe box
duct tape
x-acto knife or scissors
Magnifying glass (3-4 inches in diameter)
ruler
pencil
phone stand (anything to hold your phone up)

how to:
1. tape all wholes with the duct tape. You want to make sure no light comes in or out, except where the magnifying glass will be placed.

2. On the shorter side of the box, in the front and center, place the magnifying glass. Make a mark to see where to cut the hole.

3. Cut the space with the knife or scissors.  An X-acto knife will give you the most accurate cut. Patch with tape.

4. Place lense into opening.Tape handle inside to hold lense in place.

5. Line up phone  or iPod with the magnifying glass - mark the space so you know where to place the object next time.

6. Place phone stand on the marked place when ready to view movie!
note- you will have to turn your phone or iPod upside down to view film in the right direction, turn on the lock orientation :)

The web is full of projects you can do, you just have to find what you're looking for. DIY projects will save you a lot of money and give you a sense of accomplishment. So, what is it that you want to learn how to do?
