This week I have been working as a counselor for Morehouse's Young Entrepreneur's Summer Camp (YES). YES Camp allows young student's around the Atlanta area to learn and engage in activities focusing on entrepreneurship. You guys already know that I am a strong advocate for entrepreneurship and am so excited to be a part of this program. This is a great outlet for young students to not only gain insight, but to also learn skills they need to know in a professional arena. It has been great to witness their transformations and it's only been THREE days. So far we have visited Lockheed Martin and Georgia Pacific to see the inner workings of their businesses and see how Corparate America blends with entrepreneurship. Yea, it's alright to work for someone before starting your own business. I have learned a lot as well and how they will aid me as I work on my own businesses and blog. Here are a few things I've learned so far:
1. Speak like you want to make a million. Always speak clearly and precisely so others can understand you. Be confident.
2. Introduce yourself. Always state your name and introduce yourself to speakers, guest, anyone. Networking 101.
3. Live your brand. You are your brand and in order to have others to believe in you, you have to believe in yourself.
These are just the beginning and I can't wait to see what is in store for these young, bright, passionate kids!
Signed,
