It's Springtime, and recently I've been inspired to start new. Flowers are in bloom, and nothing but potential in the air. Out with the old, right? Springtime is the perfect time to start fresh and possibly make a little cash on the side. Ever heard of the phrase "One man's trash is another man's treasure'? Many places and online sites offer cash for your old clothing, electronics, and items. Here are some tips below on how you can get a little cash for your old things;
1. Clean out your closets! Begin by sorting through your closets at old things you don't wear or use anymore. Separate them three piles; trash, keep, or sell. Ask yourself, will I use this item this month? Will I wear this in two weeks? If the answer is no, you should consider selling or trashing it.
2. The items you are considering selling, break those down as well; electronics, clothing, other. Each can be sold on different sites.
3. Create an eBay account. List your items by taking photos and placing them on the online auctioning site. You can either list them with a set price or allow bidding to go for your item. Also try ad sites such as Craigslist that reaches locals. Be sure to share them on your social networking sites and watch them go. Sometimes your item won't sell as fast as you'd like, but keep trying. Someone will be sure to catch the bait.
4. Consignment shops. Many places such as Plato's Closets will buy your old clothing and sell them back into their store. Be sure to offer items that are gently used and do not have evidence of stains and tears.
5. Sites such as secondspin.com offer buyback options for your old CDs and DVDs. This is a great way to get rid of your old CD's now that we entered into the iPhone era.
6. What you don't sell, donate! Drop off items in donation boxes or hit up your local GoodWill.
With a little research and digging deep into your room, you may find some great items that you can sell. It's about that time to head back home from the semester so it's also the perfect time to begin cleaning out your dorm rooms. It's simple and everything can be done online. There's always the good old yard sale too! Let me know how your online yard sale goes at shanika.simmons90@gmail.com or leave a comment!
