Feature: eGo Outfitters

As we continue to focus on entrepreneurship, we begin to think about our skills. What are we good at and how can it make us money. Gavin Young realized he was good at design and put his skills to work creating and working with many clothing lines. Not to mention, he's the designer for Pink Planes :)

Gavin DeChaun Young. 23. design major at the University Of West Ga. His design credit includes working with Chad Koolington, eGo Outfitters, Pink Planes, Snaps University, and more.

eGo Outfitters was founded by GA resident Gavin DeChaun in September of 2011. The brand's main focus is on high end sportswear such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, polo shirts, and other accessories. All eGo products are produced in limited quantities. The ideology behind the brand is confidence amplified. In a world where characteristics such as arrogance and cockiness are frowned at, we stick our tongues out in defiance. A brand for those with a voice that can not and will not be silenced. If the shirt fits . . . wear it. eGo

What made you want to become an entrepreneur?
I've always had this problem with authority even when I was growing up. I tended to rebel against orders given(which explains why I've had so many different jobs), I usually never kept the same job longer than a year. That was when I decided that this nine to five shit really wasn't for me. I thought about what I was good at and how I could turn a profit from and POOF design!

What has been your biggest challenge as an entrepreneur?
The toughest challenge I've face in my business ventures has to be being in such a saturated market. It's like how EVERYBODY used to be dope boys, then EVERYBODY became rappers, now EVERYBODY has a clothing line. So you have to make sure you're on top of your game because it's so many people out here doing what you're doing and trying to accomplish the same goals. You have to make your brand stand out and offer more than the next brand. Also your team is very important. God knows I couldn't do all this by myself and I credit my team for my brand's success.

What are your long term goals?
Long term I want to have a warehouse where every thing is stitched, died, printed, sold, shipped, etc all from one location. Preferably NY, LA, MIA or ATL. I want eGo and Pink Planes to be the biggest brands world wide.

How do you plan on giving back to the community? There's talk of a scholarship type fund. We're still ironing out the details. But as of now we've been involved in cardio vascular studies/heart awareness, and breast cancer events.

What advice would you give to students interested in starting their own businesses now?WHAT ARE YOU DOING THINKING?!?! Get up and do something. Your thoughts/goals/ambitions all come with expiration dates. A lot of people say better late than never, true but I say there's no time like the present. Don't take time for granted and don't take the path that was laid out for you. Live your life, follow your dreams and fuck the nay sayers.
