A new semester means a new hassle with the financial aid office. This is never fun, but necessary to get the aid you need for school. By now, you should have finished, if not, started on your FAFSA to receive aid for the next year; If not, do that NOW!

1. Call ahead. It’s always best to set an appointment with the office before walking in. They are more than likely willing to help you if you have an appointment. Be on time as well.
2. Have all information on hand. Whether it’s tax information, receipts, print off of your account, whatever. Be sure to come prepared.
3. Write down all the questions you need to ask. Sometimes a phone call or email is the best way to contact your aid officer, and easier. You want to make sure to get all your answers questioned so you can move forward accordingly.
4. Be courteous. These people have the power of how much money to give you. Be nice.
5. Meet all deadlines! If you miss the deadline, it’s going to be harder to get the funds or assistance you need.
6. Say Thank You. A thank you card is a great way to show your appreciation and build on the relationship.
p.s. have you been doing the challange this week? Remember? This week's challenge is to not purchase the repeating items on your list. See if you can go a week without it? Don't be shy, leave comments or mention me on twitter @carpeNIKA.
